Guess Who Got Some

Me. That would be me. I got some. Last night.

As I told a friend, it's not that we haven't been meeting up, it's that there hasn't been a lot of time for lovin' and lazin' about.

She wrote back "Note to self - do NOT disturb tonight!"

It was blissfully quiet on the text front. I didn't have to deal with random messages or emergency texts, which was a good thing!

We met after dinner cos BIKSS had a work thing, then we headed to the festival village for supper cos there's a Night Festival thing going on this week. Unfortunately it had rained quite heavily in the afternoon and evening and the organisers hadn't put anything down on the ground so by the time we got there everything was muddy and wet.

We walked in but according to BIKSS after about a minute into the food zone I froze in my tracks. To hear him telling it, I stopped walking, looked down, looked up and around, and then for the next 40seconds I just didn't move.

Which is when he said let's go across the road from the train station, there'll be food there. There was a mall. It was already 10 past 9, and I said so. There'll still be shops open with food to be got, he reassured me.

So we went. Into the mall. And shared a slice of cake and some fried wantons by way of a snack.

After that we drove home and the conversation consisted mostly of me apologising profusely for having dissed on his most recent acquisition, an AP watch which, when I saw it last week, I deliberately said nothing about because I didn't think it was nice. I mean, the one design feature that this brand is known for was the very thing I didn't like about it (also, I didn't know that it was their signature style). And I didn't know it was THE watch he had been gunning for (I knew he had intended to get one, as an investment piece, but I didn't know this was it) and thought it was just some rando piece he had ordered online - because he does that - based on the movement, and not the brand.

We had been playing Never Have I Ever (and I've been watching the series - Darren Barnet is my current wet dream!) and I said never have I ever held an AP watch in my hand. And he said "Oh, that's right, you disliked it so much you didn't even touch it to look at it". And I was like, wait, what? The green watch that I didn't like was THE watch? THAT was the watch?

No, this is not the watch. This is Darren Barnet.

THIS is the watch -

Ladies and gentlemen, he picked the Baby Shit Green one. I mean, who DOES that? I also don't like that 8 sided bezel. And the face (fine, dial) looks like little squares on a chocolate bar. And wouldn't you know it, those 3 things are precisely what he LIKES about the watch!

So then I launched into 15 minutes of very loud, very dramatic, very apologetic apologising! But I mean, how was I to know? It's not like he stuck it in front of me and said "Hey look at my AP watch? I got it today!" In fact he didn't say nothing about it. Until about 15 mins into our date when he casually, and I mean VERY casually, mentioned that I hadn't noticed his new watch. To which I replied, um, I did notice it, but I don't particularly have anything nice to say about it, so I opted to NOT mention it at all. "Oh, you don't like it?" "Er, it's not something I would pick myself, but you're totally entitled to like what you like," was what I said, I think. Something along those lines anyway.

And that was the end of that. Le sigh. So now I've told him that he needs to wear it again at some point so that I can oooh and aaah at it appropriately. I'll still probably tell him I don't like it, but at least I would have acknowledged it properly! LOL.

Aside from *that* fun evening, we also had dinner Monday night at a smokehouse nearby. We decided to just drive around this one area and see what exciting restaurant we might chance upon. And it was pretty exciting. It was a first time for both of us trying smoked and battered fish, and hush puppies. And we also had a bowl of chilli. And that left me with a mini tummy ache. I suspect it was a combination of all that deep fried food (I don't do well with deep fried foods) and just over-eating.

After dinner we sat on and watched some of the other diners and had a lovely time making up stories about the people around us. Those two are on a first date, you think? Nah, they're probably on date 3 or 4. SHE'S definitely keen on him, but HE looks like some rich kid who's just hanging out and having a meal with a friend. Oh my, she keeps pulling up on her bra. Strapless, I think, so it might be slipping down. Probably not a well-fitted bra. Which is SO important. LOL. Oh look, he's just tapping away on his phone while she's preening and laughing ever so delicately.

Oh and those two. They're made for each other, look at their faces! They're like a mirror image of each other. Same face shape, even features. And both tall and thin! But gosh they're eating a lot for a couple of skinny people eh?

Turns out I knew one of the waiters from my mid 20s, the partying days, I suppose. He had a twin who was keen on me, while he himself had a thing for a good friend of mine. I went up to him and asked which brother he was! I mean, identical twins right? And I hadn't seen them both in a couple of decades, yanno?

He gave me his name, not recognising me, until I said my girlfriend's name and I swear his eyes lit up!

OH, yes, I remember her! You're (insert my name here)?? Wow it's been a long time! How is she? Married? Kids?

Um, yes, married. She's good. Lives just one street away from here, as a matter of fact! I'll let her know you're here and maybe we can drop by for dinner one day, and you can say hi to her yourself :)

Anyway, it was a good week all round.

In mother updates, I met with the palliative care team from some programme mum got referred to, and they were so lovely and kind. Did a preliminary exam for mum while they were here - checked her BP, assessed her swallowing ability (dysphagia), did a rectal exam to check for constipation, listened to her lungs etc. I suppose all the usual old-people-illness suspects.

More good news - this means all her medical care will now come under ONE agency and I don't have to go back and forth between home medical care people and psycho-geri people and physiotherapist etc. They'll also be able to get me subsidised rates for her drink thickener and kidney supplements which is a huge relief! And best of all, even tho there is a nominal fee for doctor visits ($34) they also did say that as the end draws near we might require frequent visits from the doctor or nurse - but not to worry because the service is capped at $76 per calender month regardless of how many times someone has to come in to see to her.

This is very reassuring.

Mum herself is in good spirits generally. The new regime we have her on is probably the best we've had since she started on the road down dementia lane. She's communicative, can let us know when she needs to pee and poop, is now able to stand to turn herself around when we transfer her to the commode, she'll laugh and giggle with us - and the new caregiver, which is awesome! - and she's sleeping better. Not right through the night, altho she has managed that a couple of times a week, but she's managing 4-6 hours every night at least.

My world is brighter, my nipples are achey, pussy is sore and the choking and face slapping have made a comeback. I even managed a cum last night! Brilliant.

And here's a chip pic cos I haven't posted any in a long long time -

Cos cassava chips are a shade less unhealthy than potato chips. Oh who am I kidding!?!

I Can Breathe Again

Today was the first time in months that I didn't have to wake up early on a weekend to help my caregiver (CG) pot mum.

My second caregiver arrived on Wednesday during the week. She has been a good learner, willing to listen and try, and CG1 has been telling me positive things. Most of the teaching has fallen to her as she has been the one taking care of mum while I'm at work etc.

CG2 doesn't speak English too well, but I am able to speak Malay so it's not such a huge problem for us. CG1 doesn't quite speak Malay tho, except for specific words which she has picked up for when she needs mum to "eat, swallow, sit, stand, drink" you get the picture.

At the moment I'm just encouraging CG2 to please try to speak more English so that if she makes any mistakes we can teach her, and also because practice is important if she is to get better at it.

Mum has had a couple of bad sleeps since she arrived but at least now CG1 is able to shut herself in her room for a daytime night to make up for it cos there is someone else to take over the day watch.

I hadn't realised how stressed I was having to watch the clock all day every day so that I'm home in time to help CG1 pot mum. I didn't realise, that is, until Thursday when I suddenly felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders as I texted CG1 to let her know that I was going to the supermarket after work to pick up some groceries - for the last 3 months it's been straight home after work for me!

Last night we went out for French. Initially BIKSS suggested the little Bistro we discovered last year where I had my birthday raclette with my gal pals this year. But I wanted a raclette dinner with him (it would be my second, and BIKSS' first) so I searched online and we found something nearby. The birthday raclette place didn't have it on their menu anymore. Of course we both consumed way too many calories for one sitting. BUT it was so good!

Before and after - 500gms of raclette melted down to nothing in 30 mins

I tried pickled baby onion things for the first time! I have decided that I like them.

Before and after of one of my plates. There were many more such plates. I ate enough for 4 meals.

After dinner we went for a drive to the marina where we had a couple of scoops of ice cream and a pot of tea each. It was really nice to be able to just hang out till late and not worry about rushing home. It was perfect. The conversation was sparkling, BIKSS noticed I looked a lot more relaxed, and I even got dressed up in a proper long pants and dress shoes (with earrings to boot!) and everything. A proper date night if you will.

We also managed a Turkish dinner at our new favourite Turkish place.

We tried stuff that we hadn't had before, and I am now in love with Labneh.

And now, I shall head off to collect some free rescued food. I have been blessed with freebies recently. It really helps now that I have an extra mouth to feed LOL.

'Twas 2 Hours Before Midnight

and all thru the flat there was peace and quiet, for the mama, she slept.

~~

It has been two nights now that she's slept through the night. It's wonderful.

We stopped the night dosing of her alprazolam cos my boss found a lovely thing called Lemborexant.

In some end stage kidney failure patients the levels of orexin become super high. It causes insomnia. And they can't get to sleep. In moderate to late Alzheimer's patients, this could also happen. Causing insomnia. Not just day-night reversal.

Mum is likely the victim of a double whammy.

We started the drug on Monday but nothing happened till yesterday. We titrated her day dose of alpra and that combined with the new drug knocked her out in under 5 minutes.

I wasn't home when mum went to bed last night cos she fell asleep so quickly after taking her meds. Lucky my tenant was home so she assised my caregiver in getting mum into bed.

We were out having dinner and a romp in a transit hotel.

Chicken bits on lettuce & tomato

Dinner was at a place literally called "Burger Fries" where they serve... you guessed it!

Raclette burger with home made double fried fries. AKA - burnt. I wasn't a fan of the fries.
But that patty was really something!

Then we went to get groceries nearby and ended up at our usual hotel where we rolled around, sucked on each other A LOT and had quite a fair bit of fun. *wink*

~~

I've put in the application for my second caregiver. She should be here in a week or 2. I'm so relieved that the cavalry is on its way.

We've already begun talking about maybe taking a vaction. I'm gunning for Sydney. :)

We Managed To Have Dinner

But the most important news first - we got the government approval for a second live-in caregiver. Hopefully this means my life can maybe go back to a more "normal" state now.

And maybe I should also let her settle in then think about getting more work.

We got mum's nutritional supplement for the next 6 weeks covered by some kind of hospital fund so that just saved me $230. But I found out today that her future home visits by the doctors will no longer be free and I will have to pay for each visit and for the medications that they prescribe. Currently because we get them from the outpatient clinic at the government (public) hospital it's all covered by our medication/hospital fund (that we each have as citizens).

I've been on the phone all afternoon with the outpatient clinic at the hospital to see if they'll allow me to attend appointments on mum's behalf seeing as how she is unable to go to the hospital without arranging wheelchair transport and since she's uncommunicative now anyway. My plan is that I can wheel her down to a nearby clinic to get her blood drawn and labs done, and then take those results to our usual "free" clinic at the hospital in order to get a repeat prescription for her chronic meds.

That's the plan.

For now, I'm going to have to focus on getting in my second caregiver and hope that everything goes smoothly.

Here are some food pics -

Also known as Hainanese Pork Chops, this is a pork cutlet drowned in a tomato-based gravy. It's absolutely delish! I remember when mum used to make this at home. I would eat A LOT OF IT.

Deep Fried Spring Rolls

We've been seeing reviews of this Vietnamese place but never got round to eating there. We finally went. It's cheap and good and what Vietnamese dinners should be.

Stir fried Chye Sim with beef. I think.

And of course, BUN CHA!
