Jiggly Conversation

I read Mrs F's post on boob-shrinkage recently, and it popped into my head during our most recent jiggety-jig session. So I asked BIKSS if he thought my boobs were smaller.

Yes, he nodded.

I thought so too, I said in dismay.

Well, at least it won't be saggy and droopy when I'm older, I replied.

He laughed and said, well, he'll be saggy and jiggly all over when he gets older. He demonstrated by placing his hands on his belly and jiggling it up and down. LOL.

Then with a spark of joy said "You know the one place on me that WON'T be saggy and jiggly?"

Me - Your balls!

Him - Yup, me balls!

*Giggles*

(For the record, Roger's dongles are situated high up! They're wrapped tight and sit close to the body.)

My chip pic today ~

Lotus root chips are popular during CNY too, but I didn't buy any this year cos it's not a fave of mine.

Pre-CNY Friday

This is the final weekend before CNY and the madness is really maddening. There're just too many people EVERYWHERE! So I was glad for the peace and quiet during dinner.

Yesterday we had dinner at the same Japanese restaurant that we ate lunch at on our Christmas Do-Over.

I like that there are privacy curtains between tables, and that it was still empty when we arrived.

Iro-Iro Salad - sashimi on mixed veggies.

Veggie kakiage - Julienned veggies, battered and fried.

Tonkatsu - deep fried breaded pork cutlet.

Avocado and salmon maki - the plate was really big, and so was the portion.
This isn't the norm for Jap restaurants here. (Phone shown here for size comparison.)

After dinner we took our annual drive up and down the main street of Chinatown to see the lights (you've seen the Tiger display so I won't post it again here), then it was off to the supermarket for me to get my CNY shopping done. I mean, I've bought the snacks and drinks and sodas and oranges ~

Tangerines and oranges It may well be just superstition, but the Chinese believe that tangerines and oranges are auspicious symbols of a better year ahead. The words for tangerine and orange in Chinese resemble the words for luck and success, respectively. Their bright color also symbolizes gold, hence the fruits have a meaning of bringing good luck and wealth. During the celebrations, tangerines and oranges are widely displayed as house decorations and exchanged as gifts.

...but fresh food needed to be got - veggies and seafood for the cooking I'll be doing tomorrow for Monday night's eating etc. The sister is hosting reunion dinner this year but I'll be bringing a pot of Chap Chye to add to her table.

I also needed eggs and other baking things for today's lapis-bake. (Betty came over to help - we made 6 cakes today - and then I bought her dinner at a foodcourt near her place.)

BIKSS hauling my loot from the supermarket to the car 😍

Then a detour to a friend's place to pick up one final CNY ingredient that she generously donated from her own larder - I didn't want to buy a whole packet of dried lily buds cos I only needed a few pieces for the chap chye.  Then it was home again home again and jiggity-jig we did! 😸

My chip pic today is the seaweed chips in the second picture!

Stuff!

The seaweed salted egg yolk flavoured snacks that I got from BIKSS last night. Yums!

My trusty Kenwood Chef!

Sprouts, Treats, Games, Geri and The Girl's Perfume

OK that was a summary, not a title. But I figure if you read that and were still interested, then you'd click to see the whole post. If that seemed like it would be boring, then you could click away and I would have saved you 1.5 seconds.

But for those of you still here, I saw a tiny shoot emerging from the base of my Nanouk just a while ago. I'll take a picture when it's more discernible. It's night time now and the light isn't great outside.

I promised a picture of some pineapple tarts - first, background. Pineapple tarts are very popular around the Chinese New Year period among Hokkien communities because the word for pineapple is Ong Lai and sounds like one is inviting prosperity to visit. Ong literally translated means 'fortune / abundance', and Lai means 'to come'. It's like saying, hey, good fortune, come pay me a visit. The giving of the pineapple tarts isn't the important thing, its the having it in your house that we're gunning for. So buying it from the shops works too.

I was lucky to have been gifted 3 bottles so far - with another coming my way this Saturday (from a cousin).

Left Top - from a distant cousin but we keep in touch with their family cos they live really nearby and she attended the same school and they go to the same church etc etc.

Left Bottom - from my colleague - her sister makes them every year (and she gives me a bottle every year) because I mentioned one year that I really liked her recipe!

Right - my student's mum ordered these from a home baker - the ball types usually have very soft melt-in-your-mouth pastries and this one did not disappoint. The pineapple filling was also very soft and mum managed to eat one of these even after removing her dentures!

💥💥💥💥💥

The other thing I wanted to show you was the Tiger Boy and Tiger Girl pair of cut outs that we usually stick on the door / wall / cupboard doors around this time - boy on the left, and girl on the right. That's just how it is.

This is on my main door. The Chinese words are traditional New Year greetings, and this pair happens to be sitting on fluffy red cushions (cushions in ancient times were reserved only for people of a higher status as their comfort was important whereas the common folk would just sit on the hard floor).

A couple of decades ago these paper cut outs tended to be "realistic" looking, but over the years people have favoured a cuter / more cartoon-like rendering.

Also, here's a quick pic of the big ass Tiger Lantern Light Up in Chinatown -

From a news article - The design features Bengal tigers, with the largest measuring up to 4.5m in length and almost 5m in height. Spanning 880m the light-up has more than 300 lanterns, giving form to more than 60 tigers.

Here's a picture for scale (from the same news article) -

Yup. The Chinatown light up is a thing I make BIKSS do a drive-by of every year! It's really beautiful. On the stretch of road behind that huge tiger is a wide divider which is like a huge long planter that, for most of the year, is all about shrubs and trees, but come CNY turns into a platform for lanterns and CNY decor!

Speaking of CNY, I coloured my hair. Not because I wanted to cover the grey, but just cos I wanted something different. I've gotten bored with the grey-streaks-in-black look.

It's called purple ash. And I'm loving it. And yes, I bought a L'Oreal Excellence box and did it myself. There's no way I'm paying $80 to colour my hair at the salon.

💥💥💥💥💥

I've also become a bit addicted to Evermerge and the whole time I'm writing this post and fixing the fotos I'm thinking of all the things I could be merging in my game. But I shall persist.

The other thing that I've been playing is Wordle.

Apparently it's taking the world by storm. Do you play?

If you've missed the first 200 games, fret not. There's an archive. You're welcome. The only annoying this is you have to scroll forever (down 200 lines) if you want to start at game number 1.

💥💥💥💥💥

Today we saw geri. As usual, I commandeered the entire encounter.

Me - So the Escitalopram for her anxiety, is it an upper or downer? I mean, since her other tranquilizing meds seem to cause her to have somnambulism, couldn't the Escitalopram also cause the same effects since they're all meant to be tranquilizing? If two of the other transquilizing ones have this effect on her, mightn't this one too?

Geri - Oh yes! That's a very good thought. For some patients it's sedating but in some it can be a stimulant.

Me (wanting to punch her in the face because why didn't she say/think of this as soon as I said mum was having trouble sleeping) - So can I stop/ reduce the dose? Will the depression come back?

She - It's not advisable to stop it cos if the anxiety is a prodrome to the dementia then with the progression we’re seeing it might recur if we stop it.  Mmm.. I think we should just keep on giving her the medication.

Me - If it can act as a stimulant in some patients, can we do the same thing we did for the Olanzepine, which is give it to her earlier in the day so that it doesn't keep her up nights, assuming it may also be contributing to the somnambulism?

She - Oh, yes that's actually a good idea. Let's try changing it to a morning dosing.

And that was that. We came home around 430 and I popped the pill in mum's mouth at 5. That's 3-4 hours earlier than she usually takes it. We'll see what happens tonight.

💥💥💥💥💥

The girl sitting across from me on the bus smelled awesome. Not awesome like I wanted to jump her bones, but awesome like Dammit I Wanna Smell Like That.

So after thinking about it for a bit, I waved at her the next time she opened her eyes to see where we were (she was resting her eyes, it was an early morning commute), leaned forward (she was in a seat facing mine) and said "Hi, I'm so sorry to bother you but would you mind telling me what perfume you're wearing?" - all the while praying hard that she spoke English. She did, not well, but she did.

She was caught off-guard, pulled out one of her earbuds so that she could hear me properly (we're all still masked up in public) and then regained some composure and proceeded to pull up the brand of perfume on her mobile phone. She turned it towards me and showed me a page of images.

LIKE. I. CAN. SEE. TSK. I squinted and said "Oh, how do you spell the brand?" And she Googled the brand for me and showed me a result page with the word DYPTIQUE in big bold letters. Now we're getting somewhere.

I think it's called Do Son EDT and I'm now dying to get to the shops in town to see if it's the right one. If not, I'll be sniffing around their perfumes till I find it I suppose. At least we've narrowed down the brand!

My chip pic today ~

Crabstick / seafood stick chips are a popular snack during CNY too. They're absolutely unhealthy, but so satisfyingly crunchy! I have a bottle on standby and I've told myself NOT to open it till CNY. I mean, I've already finished a bottle of seaweed chips... hehe. I need to have *something* to munch when the actual day comes rolling round.

Rx Updates and CNY is Coming

For those of you who celebrate the Lunar New Year (or Chinese New Year aka CNY), you have less than a week to finish up preparations! While Christmas is a bigger affair for me personally, CNY requires more "doing" cos there is more interaction in the days leading up to it, as well as DURING the first few days of the season (it's 15 days, officially).

Main visiting days are the first and second days of CNY, but BEFORE that everyone is busy passing each other gifts! My boss and colleague and I have already done our gifts exchange! I've picked up a bottle of pineapple tarts from a distant cousin, BIKSS has ordered and taken delivery of some pork jerky for me (bak kwa 👈 I wrote about it at the bottom of that post) and will be passing that to me on Friday, along with some seaweed crackers I think! Hurray! (CLICK HERE to have a look at some pictures of CNY goodies I posted a few years ago!)

My sister and uncle have also come round to pick up their lapis from last Sunday's batch.

I'm making considerably fewer cakes this year with the mum's condition the way it is, and Betty was over last Sunday, and will be here again this Saturday, to assist. My yearly count of 40+ cakes has been drastically chopped down to a mere 12.

BIKSS took a long lunch on Monday to come round to where my main clinic is to pick up his xylitol lapis and we ended up having a quick bite at a steak and rib place. Only we had neither steak nor ribs 🤣🤣 !

Pumpkin soup - thick, rich, tasty.

Chicken Caesar - more chicken than I expected, so half of this came home with me.

Blackened Salmon - not sure what part was supposed to be blackened but I did enjoy the salmon - cooked to perfection. I hate it when it's over-done and everything gets dry and tough.

💢💢💢💢💢

I have also been busy making trellises for my climbing plants. Stripped the white buds from my old cut pussywillow stems and tied them up with string.

Left - a smaller trellis for Monstera Adansonii; Right - Pothos NJoy and Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma on either side of a larger trellis that I stuck in the centre of the pot. I am rather pleased with myself for having thought of this idea and successfully fashioning the trellises! So far so good, but we'll see how they hold up once the plants decide to creep.

My Freddie Calathea went from a big bushy plant to having only 2 leaves left. And for the longest time nothing happened. BUT a week ago I found THIS -

Top right arrow - that's what was left of my Freddie Calathea - 2 leaves

Bottom right - a tiny green thing poking out of the soil

Left - 4 days later, a definite leaf!

I'm so glad it's growing again. There is hope. There is definitely hope. And again I am reminded - if the plants can survive, so can I!

💢💢💢💢💢

In medical news, BIKSS has been having intermittent hives breakouts. We think it was triggered by the red meat and beer combo on my birthday, cos that's when it started. Later on when he had another beef and beer dinner with ex colleagues it happened again. Since then he's had a few unprovoked breakouts. But those tend not to itch.

The other doctor is in clinic this week and he said that he noticed people were coming in post-booster (who were fine before) with unexplained / sudden allergies, rashes, hives, eczema etc.

The onset isn't immediate, but 1-2 months after the 3rd shot, and often triggered by one of the more common culprits - nuts, milk, alcohol, seafood etc. despite the person not having had any allergic reaction to it previously. Subsequent episodes may occur even without coming into contact with the allergen that triggered the first episode.

If this is you or someone you know, you might want to hear this :

He says to try and get the body's histamine response to settle down with a daily dose of antihistamine for a month (whether or not there's a breakout that day) and then stop and see what happens. If it comes back then go for a second month. He says to do this for 3 months and by the end of that time if the rash (or whatever) appears again whenever you stop the antihistamine then there might be a chance you would either 1) have to live with it, or 2) consider a course of steroids to get the body's immune response to take a break.

So this is the plan for now. The last few days BIKSS has been hives-free. But if he gets it again I'm putting him on cetirizine for a month.

Meanwhile, the mum has been sleeping slightly better, now that we've taken her off her sleeping pills, and adjusted her anti-psychotics to half the dose at 11am in the morning instead of in the evening. We see the doctor again tomorrow and I will ask her if there is any other medication that we could try which might eliminate the sleep-talking altogether, ie, doesn't have this as a side effect. Altho I'm not hopeful cos she didn't seem to have any "a-ha" moment when I mentioned it to her the last time. You would think that if I came in with complaints of a side effect the doctor would recognise it as a side effect. Anyway, my caregiver says it's not too bad now, she's not as disruptive, only waking up to turn around in her bed (head to foot, foot to head) and then going back to sleep, unlike before where she would want to get OUT of bed and go wandering around the place to do whatever it was she thought she had to do. Sigh.

That's all from here. I'll try and pop round to read your blogs but I haven't the energy or willpower to do much else except tap on my crop in Evermerge while lying in bed LOL.

Friday Feast and Feistiness

Not for us, the feast. For the mozzies. The mozzies feasted on me.

It was one of those rustic places. Natural surroundings. Unmanicured landscape. A cemented patch of floor and a shack for a kitchen. It was quaint. It was pretty and would have been a lovely experiential excursion. Except the experience included getting eaten by mozzies.

The food was delicious enough, in retrospect, but I just couldn't appreciate / enjoy it while we were there cos I was scratching all over.

Which is hard to do when your fingers are oily.

We finished the battered fish and caeser salad - it was probably one of the better ones we've had, and we would know seeing as how we eat loads of salads. LOL.

For some reason we thought there would be half a dozen, but when we looked at the photo after that we counted 5! Anyway, I ate 1, and BIKSS had 2, and we packed up the other 2.

Onion blossom - delicious. Oily, but delicious. Half of it is sitting in my fridge. I might just chuck it in the over tomorrow and have it for dinner. :)

After we (I) abandoned dinner I said to BIKSS maybe we should have ice cream and waffles. So we found a little hole in the wall (recommended by Google's "near me" feature) and I think we hit the jackpot!

You know how I'm fussy about waffles? I'm not particular about most things I eat, simply cos I'm a forager and leftover food is a constant in my day-to-day, and well, someone who's fussy about food simply cannot eat the way I eat and still be satisfied. So yes, I'm not fussy about food. But waffles I'm fussy about. The ones we've tried after our favourite waffle place closed down have been too crispy and hard, too soggy and wet, too airy and fluffy with not enough bite, too dense heavy and more pancake than waffle. This one, however, was simply brilliant!

As BIKSS put it, this one was dangerous because he couldn't find anything to complain about.

That's BIKSS' Rum 'n' Raisin on the top, and my Paddle Pop Rainbow below. If you've ever had paddle pop rainbow you'll know it's super sweet but the lady assured me it wasn't so. And she was right. Their version of this flavour is made with a cheese powder base, she tells me.

Of course it's not paddle pop till you see the swirls, so swirl it I did!

After dessert we went for a drive to pick up some stuff from Marks and Spencer. Along the way I was badgering BIKSS about some sounds he made when I said I was keen to pick up some nuts. Huh, he said. Huh, huh. You know that nasal kinda huh? That one.

-What does "huh" mean? Why did you "huh" 3 times?
-What? Nothing. I didn't know there was a *local-nut-brand-henceforth-known-as-NUT* store there. So I said Huh when you said there was.
-No, you said Huh before I said there was a NUT store there.
-Yeah, you said we could go to get it from the OTHER NUT store and so I said Huh.
-I said I wanted nuts and you Huh'd 3 times before I offered up the suggestions of either of the stores.
-I don't know. It was just a Huh then.
-But what does it mean? Did you think about getting something else? Or going somewhere else?
-No, it didn't mean anything. They were just sounds.
-But what do the sounds mean?
-Nothing! Sometimes people make sounds, they don't mean anything.

(I go on for a bit.. I'm not proud of it, but I realise it's badgering... NOW, anyway... I didn't THEN.)

Anyway he goes on to say something about how he wasn't paying attention and I said how come?
And he said, louder than usual, "Because I'm driving!"

And then I felt bad and I felt hurt and I felt like he hollered at me and my eyes teared up. Although looking back it was probably my fault. And then I apologised and he said it's ok no harm done. And I said "Then why did you holler at me and make me cry?" And I pouted. And he giggled. And he patted my knee and said, No really? Me - Yes really. Him - Awww... I'm sorry I made you cry.  Me - OK. LOL

I must have been in a particularly badgery mood yesterday, cos I'm certain he got a bit impatient with it (me) again at the end of the night when he was dropping me off, but he's awfully good at keeping his temper in check, I must say.

Today on chat with my food rescue ladies I realise we ALL speak this way. Someone asked about a game we're playing. And someone else who's an old hand at the game replied.

- How often are the chest events?
- I don't know, I never was able to figure it out.
- Monthly?
- Can't say.
- Fortnightly? Weekly?
- Maybe after the build events and special island events, altho sometimes it's just one other even in between two chest events, and sometimes a lot of other events before the chest event comes back again.
- But like, within the same month? How long should I hoard chests for?

And I had to laugh. Cos I recognise that I do that too, with my friends and what not.

So, I'm sorry Daddy BIKSS, that I badger you. But you did say very early on that I'm like a pitbull terrier that won't let go once I've got my mind trained on something. LOL. I shall just try to keep the badgering to when you're NOT driving. :D

Breakfast on a Normal Day

Wanna see what I do for regular breakfasts? Leftovers.

Half a red-bean paste pancake (mum's leftover breakfast from a day before), a kale/quinoa patty from Strong Roots (leftover from last night's dinner), and a cup of papaya cos there's just so much of it in the fridge.

More Gifts

Today my colleague handed me a large-ish paper bag - she bought me some gifts from her recent cruise trip as a sort of "souvenirs from my vacation" cum birthday present.

I was pretty shocked. The box (left) contained two pairs of earrings and a watch with interchangeable strap. She also gave me a large nautical themed tote (top) and a makeup pouch from YSL. Gosh, these must have cost quite a bit. I felt really bad that she had spent so much money getting me these gifts!

I'm so grateful for the generosity of all my friends. I must say, I've been spoiled rotten this birthday!

On a Normal Day

...this is what I eat.

I think PK mentioned that my food looked exciting and I would die of boredom eating the food she eats. This isn't true. I'm a bit of a forager. I cook up some stuff and chuck them in the fridge. Then when I'm hungry I go digging around for whatever's easy.

Today it was quinoa and lentil stew (Marks and Spencer) and some leftover fish from a fish and napa cabbage soup for lunch -

And as I had cooked a pot of chicken and veggie pepper soup with Chinese herbs for the next couple of days, I decided to have a bowl in the afternoon while watching telly.

Dinner was more chicken soup with quinoa. See? Not terribly exciting. :D

In plant news, my Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma is doing well, this is the before and after pic, three months apart.

I daresay it's one of my favourites.

I also have a Mother of Thousands aka Kalanchoe daigremontiana / Bryophyllum daigremontianum (they haven't decided which name is which and whether bryophyllum is a subset of kalanchoe or if it should be a separate classification ?!?) which has decided to put out its very first babeh! I am excited!

I was also mum-sitting today and I must say she has had a good day. So good, in fact, it felt almost normal.

Let's hope this is the beginning of an upward trend!

More Birthday Beef

My gal pals and I went for a free-flow raclette dinner / beef bourguignon face-stuffing at the French restaurant BIKSS took me to some time back where we had the tartines. I mean, 4 months ago I declared on this blog that I was totally gonna go back for the buffet, and tonight, we did.

So you grab some raclette slices, put it on a melting pan, stick it in that table top oven thing, and wait for a bit. In the meantime, you slice up your potato (no pic cos I was too excited to get started on the food!) and throw some of the meat from the chacuterie board on it. By then the cheese should be ready and you proceed to use the scraper thing to slide it off the pan and onto your plate.

My first serve - it got a lot messier after this.

Slap on one of the many sauces and you're good!

The red pot above is a vat of something, I'm not sure if it was oil, or seasoned oil, or stock, or what, but you stick some wagyu on the end of the skewer and chuck it in the pot. Then after 45-60 seconds, out of the pot to drip dry and then down the hatch!

Tender, juicy beef, refreshing green salad, crunchy tiny gherkins, cold cuts and raclette... by the end of dinner I was a pro at making cheese - lettuce - ham - cheese sandwiches all melted together in the pan!

After dinner we took a stroll (because we ate too much!) down to Chinatown which was about 15 mins away, then because it was hot and crowded and we were all itching for some tea, we went into the nearest mall and sought refuge from the sticky humid outdoors in a Starbucks.

On the way there I had my heart set on a warm mint tea, to help with digestion and what not, but I was too sweaty for hot tea by the time we got there. So I had me an iced peppermint infusion instead!

And THAT marks the end of the birthday dinners, I think.

It has been a fun week! The diet starts tomorrow! LOL.

Fondles' (Birth)Day Out

BIKSS got me bright and early and we drove to a Starbucks for breakfast. There's a cinema there too so he planned for us to catch Spiderman before lunch. I had vouchers for a pair of movie tickets so that was a brilliant plan. (Egg truffle and chicken wrap with kale and cheese.)

After the movie we drove to an old part of town to have lunch at a very old-school restaurant- the chain has been around for as long as I've been alive - maybe more, in fact. It was a simple meal that was made even lovelier cos it was free! The bosses at where-I-work gave out restaurant vouchers to all the staff at the end of last year, and I picked this one from the list. How's that for a plan!

Lobster bisque

Caeser with lava egg

Barramundi with apricot sauce

Plain ol vanilla ice cream

We headed to the hotel for some afternoon fun after that. As BIKSS was spanking me (birthday spanks right?) I said Wait wait wait! How about he sing a happy birthday song for EVERY spank I get?

He agreed. What? OK. This was going to be fun.

SPANK! Happy birthday to you... happy birthday to you... happy birthday to my lidl one... happy birthday to you.

SPANK! (repeats song)

I giggled, wondering why he would agree to such a long winded spanking... I mean, he had some 40 spanks to go...

Then I realised. EACH SPANK WAS AT MAXIMUM STRENGTH. It hurt. And then letting it radiate through the rest of my butt while he sang a birthday song - that was some horrible waiting.

After about 6 I stopped him again. Wait wait wait! How about you don't smack so hard! And sing a birthday song WHILE spanking.. like continuously... how's that?

He laughed and agreed. And that was how I got my 49 spanks, although I'm sure I got much more than that by the end of it.

The best part of my day has to be that for the first time in 10 years that we've been doing this thing I had a cum from BIKSS using my vibe on me - without my assist. Most of the time I get close but don't quite get to the end cos something's not quite right, and I end up placing my hand on his to adjust the position or pressure or whatever, but yesterday it was all him. One finger in me, one hand holding my Aubergine against my clit. A perfect birthday present!

(And then later when we went for round two he did it again!)

After that we stopped at an IKEA to pick up a file organiser for his work table, and some lint-roller refills for me.

Then it was time to head to dinner off the mainland (but accessible by car!) - gorgeous island views and warm breezes accompanied our meal!

The view from the smoking area - under that white sail is where our table was.
I told BIKSS to order and surprise me!

The view from my seat.

Sunset!

The view from BIKSS' seat.

Blackmore Carne Asada Tacos
Mexican Crema, Salsa, Garlic Mojo

AKA Beef tacos - see, I DO eat red meat!

Lamb Al Asador
300g, South American Inspired;
7-Hour Wood-fired with Chilli, Thyme, Rosemary & Garlic

AKA More red meat in the form of super tender un-gamey tasting
lamb with NOT mint sauce which was awesome cos I'm so sick of
mint sauce being the usual thing lamb is served with in this country.

Wild Mushrooms (V)
Celeriac & Cremini Cream, Parsley

AKA Too-salty grilled mushrooms, and cream sauce mushrooms - the waiter
offered to take it back and have chef make another for us. (And it's not just me
either, even BIKSS thought it was too salty.) It was perfect the second time around.

Panna Cotta, Mango Coulis, Mixed Berries, Salted Caramel Crunch, Mint

AKA The newest thing on their menu. It was yummy. Soft pudding drowned in mango
puree, topped with mixed sweet / sour berries, crunchy caramel bits and a fresh mint flavour.

My favourite had to be the lamb. And as I said to BIKSS after dinner - if I'm going to use up my red meat quota, it had better be worth it.

This dinner was totally worth it.
