When I'm Stressed, I Bake

I realise that I had been baking a LOT this week. I think it has something to do with not wanting to deal with the uncle's death, and all the other stuff.

The upside of it is lots of snacks and treats for me and BIKSS and the people who live in this house.

Remember the chocolate cake I was waiting for (one hour cooling time - it's insane!) when I wrote this post

It was the best thing ever to have come out of my oven. This wasn't even the actual cake. This was the second one I baked the day after that first one disappeared within 12 hours. It was so good, and even better with ice cream. CLICK HERE for the recipe if you missed it on the previous post. It is seriously easy to do! And so good that the housemate and BIKSS asked for the recipe too!

The next day I experimented with a bread-type loaf. I decided to add cheese and herbs and capsicum - and I think I can now say goodbye to my bread cravings. Since going on my low carb diet, I've had days of bread-withdrawal. These are a good enough substitute. As long as I can dump my tuna / cheese / ham filling in them, they'll do.

1. Batter

 2. Filling the loaf pan and adding cheese

3. In the oven. I was surprised it rose out of the pan - wasn't expecting it to

4. Finished product.

If you want the recipe, have a look at THIS WEBSITE

And BTW - they're low carb recipes using almond flour, psyllium husk, and sugar substitutes. How awesome is that?

I'm currently in the process of experimenting with sugar alcohols, I have a bag of maltitol and am expecting a packet of xylitol later this evening. For more information on sugar alcohols and why they're better for you than sugar, head over to THIS ARTICLE on HEALTHLINE

Right now I'm waiting for a batch of lemon and cranberry cookies to cool. I'll post pictures when they're done :)

FFF 2.0 Week 30

Hurray I walked 3 times last week. An average of 30 mins each. The numbers :

average : 11,400 ( I KNOW RIGHT???)

highest : 13,447

no of 10k+ days: 6 !!

I actually lost some weight. Despite not being as vigilant with my (supposed-) diet - I had some rice, some noodles, and way too much bread during the week, and chips. Potato chips. Oh and cheese sticks. And other general bad-for-dieters snacks.

Roz's update:

The scales here are fluctuating, and not really where I want them. I need to get back to some exercise, though am still walking the stairs. I also need to cut down on the sweet stuff.

All in all it was a good week for exercise! Now my only hope is that the weight I've lost doesn't find me again. :)

What's Baking? (and More Family Stuff)

Keto Chocolate Cake. That's what.

I got myself a bag of almond flour. And a bottle of psyllium husk. So that I could make 90 second microwave keto bread. Which was ok, except it could have been easier... so then I went hunting online and FOUND THIS. As soon as I get myself some cheese from the store I'm totally trying this.

But who wants bread when you can have cake?

This is the recipe I used - and I'm being a good girl and catching up on posts and blogs now because I'm to wait for it to cool in the pan for AN HOUR! A whole hour(!) of not sticking a fork into a chocolate cake/brownie thing. Argh.

With the father in hospital, I've actually been cooking a lot more. We've fallen into a pattern where the mother goes around lunch time and eats with the caregiver (who is there most of the day) and then in the evenings after I'm done with work / studying / lessons / whatever, I grab some take out containers, fill them up with whatever food I've cooked, and take it to them for dinner. Mum is supposed to be on a low protein, low potassium diet, BUT she's fussy about what she eats, AND her teeth aren't so good these days, so finding stuff she is allowed to eat, that she can chew, that she LIKES, well, let's just say it's difficult for her to eat out.

Enter the daughter. So far she's been happy to eat the food I bring. Besides, we save a ton of money this way.

BIKSS has been great. He's been ferrying me (and sometimes mum) to and/or from the hospital when our schedules match up. He also offered to chaffeur us to my uncle's wake in far far away (like a 40 minute drive away kind of far). Oh yeah. The father's younger brother passed away on Monday. Of course we didn't tell the father. No need for him to be all upset. They weren't VERY close in their golden years, seeing each other only at big New Year or Christmas celebrations. So with the sepsis, we figured he has enough battling to do on his own without having to deal with depression / sadness / grief / loss on top of it.

Oh, yeah. Sepsis. It's been a while since I've updated. So last weekend he came down with a fever. And his heart rate shot up to somewhere in the 170-190 range. They put him back in hospital (he had been in the rehab centre) and started an IV antibiotic drip.

I got a call from the doctor on Monday telling me they found E.coli in his blood. So, it's a 2 week antbiotic course for him, and um, at the same time, we need to talk about "end of life" protocol.

What. ?

Oh. Apparently it could go either way.

So, for now, we're all hoping for the best - but preparing for the worst. Yup.

Can you blame me for needing that chocolate cake?

Sharing Course Material - Proteins

The final of the three macronutrients in the course is Proteins.

FFF 2.0 - Week 29, Petty Gay Friend, and Harry Potter

That's a lot of weeks. 29. Hurrah.

Roz's Update:

As for me. Still doing the stairs daily at work but that's it. It's been a bit of a bad week with birthday cake at work, a couple of lunches and a mid winter Christmas dinner with the neighbours last night.

Here are the numbers -

Average - 9734
more than 10k days - 4
highest number - 11,753

So there will be no swimming for me in the foreseeable future. Aside from my aching shoulder joints (yes - they BOTH hurt now), my gay friend of "the dirty bench" fame and I have had a falling out because he is being a little petty monster.

Some time last week he popped up on our group chat griping about something his boss said to him. My best friend Betty and I didn't think his boss was picking on him, which was his complaint. It was 915am and work for him starts at 9. He had gotten some noodles for breakfast as there were no hand-held food items at the nearby 7-Eleven. Usually he gets a sandwich or something, but that morning for some reason the shelves were empty and everything was of the sit-down-to-eat variety.

The silly boy was eating when the big BIG boss walked in and said to him that he should put aside the bowl of noodles and open up the clinic as there were customers waiting outside.

Now *we* think that it was warranted. After all, you're supposed to start work at 9. The thing is, consults don't officially begin till 930. The usual practice is that after all the cleaning and prepping are done, the staff will open the main doors and register patients so that when the vets are ready, they can start to see the animals at 930 sharp.

So we said a few things to him -

1) well, you knew the big boss was going to be in that day, you should have been on your toes.
2) she's not wrong for asking you to open the doors, after all, you're kinda supposed to be ready for work at 9, and not be happily eating breakfast at 9.15.
3) just cos most of the time no one makes a fuss about you wandering around the place with a sandwich in your hand, doesn't mean you should take it for granted that that first half hour is "breakfast time".
4) the next time it's her shift, just be ready to go by 9 so she doesn't have anything to say about your breakfast-eating habits during work hours.

He got upset. Threw a fit. Said that we were taking her side. And then exited the group chat after some memorable words, never to be heard from again.

Yup. This is NOT the first time mind you. He's actually shouted at us at a coffee shop twice before. Raised his voice and pushed back his chair and everything... slammed the table too.

Meanwhile, the Harry Potter chat group that we had started has since been dissolved by Betty, since NO ONE is arranging meet ups to play anymore, now that the boy has decided he doesn't want to be friends with me. OR Betty for that matter. You might remember they were colleagues at one time. She has gone for coffee with him since the incident, and casually asked what he was going to do about me. His answer was  - what's there to do, I'm not angry with her anymore. Betty replied that this was the third time he lost his temper at us for not agreeing with him, and he went on some tirade about how he doesn't need his friends to tell him their opinion, that they are there to agree with him, and if they don't, then feel free to NOT reply at all.

Well. So she probed a little more and said, ok, if you're over it, you should maybe call her (me) cos she might still be upset about the thing (I'm not)... but he replied "If she's upset then let her be upset." Basically the bottom line is he doesn't think he did anything wrong, he still thinks we were wrong for voicing our opinions, and he doesn't want to be the bigger person and be the first to approach me.  In fact, Betty was the first one to approach him after the incident. He just goes on his merry way pretending nothing ever happened. Ah well. Since that chat Betty hasn't heard from him at all either.

I don't need the drama.

But speaking of Harry Potter, today the game had a worldwide Community Event so I took advantage of the improved stats and freebies and headed out for an hour. I've managed to do 30-40 minute walks 3 days this week, all thanks to this game. That's my new exercise goal, as I haven't had much motivation to exercise since starting work at the clinic and putting a stop to those late night beachside walks with BIKSS.

For a while I had the swimming thing, but since the swimming companion was the gay friend, and since the shoulders have begun objecting, perhaps this walking thing might be a better plan after all.

And it helps me level up in my game at a quicker pace.

The Hand that Spanks

When the man spanks, he uses his hand.
Or hands, or belt, or any one of our ma-
ny spanking toys.

When the man spanked last night, this bare-
ly spanked butt was red and glowing.

When the hand spanked, this girl, knowing,
that time had passed since her last encounter
would surely mean, her cheeks would burn,
she wriggled, and turned. And the man spanked.

The hand that spanked, was warm and a-glow.
How did she know? He stroked her. Rubbed her.
With the hand that spanked. Warm on her skin,
it swept all over causing knots within

...her tummy. Sexy-time knots. Lustful knots.
The same ones he got - only his in his crotch.

Not her. Hers ended right there in the middle.
It felt like her guts were the strings on a fiddle.
Being stopped, and bowed across, in turn and all at once.

But the man that spanked, his hands being done,
finally did undress his self. She could feel her bum,
under her, warm and tingling. It had begun.

Her spirit come home, to the man, to the hand, that spanked.

All I Really Wanted was some D/s

The thing about talking about fantasies, is that it really gets me going. We had a long and lovely session in bed last night after dinner and washing up, and got to talking about threesomes and rape fantasies.

But what I realised was at the time when those fantasies started appearing in my head, I didn't have the right label for them. They always involved rough sex, being taken, forced into bed, even being brought to task with a spanking.  When BIKSS asked about the actual scenarios, I told him it didn't really "look" like a rape fantasy, truth be told. He suggested a few scenes - kidnapped and chucked into a van, captured by terrorists, I can't remember the third.

It was none of those. It was just some hot dude that I fancied and I was always willing (deep down) to let him have his way with me, but the story always involved one of two things - 1) I wasn't in the mood / I was being bratty and mean to him, or 2) perhaps it was too soon, we hadn't known each other long enough, or we weren't officially dating and so the sex was unexpected.

BIKSS shared that he too had had rough-sex fantasies.. But we clarified that it wasn't really about rough sex. It was dominant sex - Do-What-I-Say sex. I kinda figured rough sex would involve BOTH parties wanting to have sex, just the manner in which they did it involved more manhandling - from both sides.

We were young and clueless about the BDSM world when these fantasies began to pop into our heads. But looking back, the style of the sex fit in perfectly with the way we NOW have sex. I guess I knew what I wanted all along, I just didn't know what it was called.

FFF 2.0 - 28 and Wasa-p at Ikea?

This week's numbers are back up to above my target of 10k.

Average : 10,444
Highest : 13,234
More than 10k : 5 days (Extremely happy about this!)

EDIT:
Roz's update : Awesome job on the steps! I still need to get back on track with exercises. Still doing the stairs though. Bad week on the scales this week. Argh.

Last night BIKSS drove me out to Ikea cos my trusty frying pan died. The tenant uses it a lot more than I do. The last time I made egg white omelettes it looked fine. That was at least 3 months ago. I haven't used the pan since. Until I wanted to make spam omelettes the other day and noticed all the teflon had come off and there were uneven protrusions on the surface of the pan. I don't know why people don't just own up and let me know something's broken so I can fix it, or buy a new one. I hate wanting to use something THAT'S MINE and then finding out I can't.

Anyway while we were there we got some gooey chocolate cake for dessert, and BIKSS got me some Wasa and cheese crispbead things - I'd never tried them before, but he had them when he was in Sweden, so I thought I would try some. We bought a pack to sample while still in the store, and then decided to get 6 more for me to take to the office for breakfast! Yum!! There were 3 flavours so we got 2 of each.

And now I'm thinking I should get the plain packs of Wasa crispbread from the supermarket and make up my own Wasa sandwiches. :) With smoked salmon roe spread which we also bought at Ikea. BIKSS hates the stuff. But I love it.

And I wanted to have some on my riceberry rice crackers last night - he said to go ahead, but he didn't want any. And then I said - "But I'm going to kiss you after," and he outright complained by way of a very-long-drawn-out, scrunchy-faced "EWWWWWW". That's the first time I've ever heard him whine like that. I took pity on him, of course, and DIDN'T have the salmon spread. Perhaps I'll save that for a non-BIKSS day. 😉
